The cost structure is entirely free of the hidden costs you often encounter with traditional hyperscalers (such as AWS or Azure): - Ingress (Uploading data): €0 (Free). Filling your buckets with terabytes or petabytes of initial backups costs nothing extra. - Egress (Downloading data): €0 (Free). Backup software communicates intensively with S3 storage via millions of small API requests (especially when checking immutable objects). In addition, data transfer is legally protected by the European EU Data Act, which prohibits vendor lock-in and obliges cloud providers to guarantee free data portability. The migration is divided into two scenarios: Scenario A: Migrating TO EUDataVault When you transfer data from a traditional provider (such as AWS S3, Azure Blob, or a local NAS) to EUDV, you follow a proven plan: 1. Zero-Code Adjustment (The basis) — Because EUDV uses exactly the same S3 API standards, you do not need to rewrite applications or scripts. You simply create a bucket in the EUDV Console. In your current backup software (e.g. Veeam, Comet or Acronis), you only swap the Endpoint URL and Access Keys to your new EUDV environment. 2. Bulk Data Transfer (The move) — To transfer terabytes or petabytes of existing data, you do not need to take the production environment offline: S3-native tools let you use universal open-source tools such as Rclone to copy data directly from bucket to bucket. EUDV works closely with specialised migration partners, with which data is transferred automatically and at speeds above 1 Gbps cloud-to-cloud. Phased migration: new backups are written directly to EUDV, while historical archives are transferred in the background. 3.
